ITM Colloquium 2021: Launch Call for Abstracts and alumni travel grants for oral presentations!

The Department of Veterinary Tropical Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa and the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM)  in Antwerp, Belgium, have joined forces for the 62nd ITM Colloquium.

This second virtual edition will take place from 2-3 December 2021 and will cover emerging and re-emerging epidemics, with a special focus on neglected tropical and zoonotic diseases.

The Call for Abstracts is now open, with submission deadline 25th of August 2021! Abstract submission is open to all, researchers from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are particularly encouraged to submit abstracts of their work within the scope of the colloquium.

Accepted oral presentations will either take place in one of the plenary sessions, or in the break-away sessions, as deemed appropriate by the scientific committee. Abstracts accepted as a poster presentation will be displayed in an online exhibition area.

The ITM Alumni Network promotes alumni participation to the 62nd ITM Colloquium through travel grants. We strongly incite all ITM alumni doing research within the scope of the colloquium to submit an abstract. The decision to award a travel grant will be made by the scientific committee based on the quality, originality and relevance of the submitted abstract. Travel grants will only be awarded to alumni being a resident and national of a country on the most recent version of the OECD/DAC list of ODA recipients. However, travel grants for oral presentation at the Colloquium will only be awarded when the COVID-19 epidemiological situation in South-Africa allows. If you apply for a travel grant and are an alumnus/a, make sure you indicate this in concerned fields in the abstract submission form.
