
ECTMIH 2023: Call for abstracts and ITM alumni travel grants!
ECTMIH2023 focus: shaping the future of equitable and sustainable planetary health
The 13th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) will be held in Utrecht, The Netherlands, from 20-23 November 2023. ECTMIH brings together over 1500 scientists and experts from across the world.
The ECTMIH 2023 call for abstract submissions is open until 30 April 2023!
The overarching theme of the congress is planetary health, focusing on the health of ‘human civilisations and the national systems on which they depend’ and reflecting the interconnectedness of human health and climate change in a rapidly changing environment.
The ultimate aim is to accelerate the understanding, appreciation and connections between tropical medicine, global health and the urgent field of planetary health.
Thematic tracks
Abstracts can be submitted under the broad congress theme 'Planetary health: shaping the future of equitable and sustainable global health' and within one of the six thematic tracks: i) Planetary Health and Health Systems; ii) Infectious Diseases and Neglected Tropical Diseases; iii) Non-Communicable Diseases; iv) Mental Health; v) Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights; vi) Child and Adolescent Health.
Cross-cutting topics
Cross cutting topics in all tracks are:
- Equity, justice and equitable partnerships
- Prevention, diagnostic innovation, treatment and care
- Public and community health
- Universal Health Coverage and health equity
- Health policy and the role of social sciences in global health research
ITM Alumni grants
The ITM Alumni Network supports alumni to attend international scientific meetings and will promote alumni participation in ECTMIH 2023. We strongly encourage all ITM alumni to participate in this call and submit an abstract. Only those ITM alumni with a selected abstract (for oral or poster presentation) and without funding granted by ECTMIH or other institutions and donors, can apply for an ITM alumni travel grant to attend ECTMIH 2023.
ITM alumni grants include: registration fee, visa, per diem, travel and accommodation costs. A grant can only be awarded to alumni being a resident and national of a country on the most recent version of the OECD/DAC list of ODA recipients.
Please note that there is a limited number of grants available for ITM alumni to participate in ECTMIH 2023. Check out the detailed list thematic subtopics and abstract guidelines on the conference website, and submit your abstract electronically before 30 April 2023! Successful submissions will be notified after Friday 16 June 2023.
If you wish to apply for an ITM alumni grant after the selection of your abstract, make sure to send us your (i) motivation letter, (ii) CV, and (iii) letter of acceptance from ECTMIH by 30 June 2023 at the latest to [email protected].
